Introducing: Atsuko Maeda and Takahashi Minami


Atsuko Maeda 

Atsuko Maeda (前田 敦子 Maeda Atsuko?, born 10 July 1991 in Ichikawa, Chiba) is a former member of the Japanese idol group AKB48. She was part of Team A and was also one of the most prominent members in the group, being voted number one in the 2009 and 2011 Senbatsu Elections. In the 2010 Senbatsu Election, however, she lost to fellow member Yuko Oshima, who was the lead for their 17th Single: Heavy Rotation. She was part of the "Senbatsu" group which consists of AKB48 members that are featured in their most recent singles. On 25 March 2012, a Sunday, she announced her retirement or 'graduation' from the group. She graduated from the group on 27 August 2012 at the AKB48 theater in Akihabara.

On 25 March 2012, during an AKB48 Concert at the Saitama Super Arena, Maeda announced that she would quit AKB48 soon.Later, it was announced that Maeda would quit right after AKB48's Tokyo Dome 3-day concert that took place from 24 to 26 August 2012. It was also announced that she would not be in the 27th single senbatsu election due to her having quit the band in August.
Maeda's last appearance on stage as an AKB48 member was "Team A 6th Stage Mokugekisha" (目撃者 Eyewitnesses?) at the AKB48 Theater in Akihabara on 27 August 2012, right after AKB48's first concert at Tokyo Dome on 24, 25, and 26 August. Her last stage was aired live on the AKB48 Official YouTube Channel as well as on Fuji TV's music show 'Hey! Hey! Hey!'.


Takahashi Minami

Minami Takahashi (高橋 みなみ Takahashi Minami?, born April 8, 1991 in Tokyo) is a member of the Japanese idol group AKB48 under Team A. She is also the General Director (総監督) of the whole AKB48 group including all sister groups. She was described as the "eldest daughter of the 48 sisters (48人姉妹の長女?)" in the group byYasushi Akimoto during an interview carried out by the Nippon Television network in June 2010. Minami is commonly part of the "Senbatsu" group of singers in the singles released by AKB48. She is also a member of the sub-group no3b, along with AKB48 members Haruna Kojima and Minami Minegishi.

History:

Before auditioning for AKB48, Takamina competed in The 30th HoriPro Talent Contest (第30回ホリプロタレントスカウトキャラバン) and was among the Top 15 out of 52,547 contestants. She received the loudest applause after her singing performance during this contest, and was the only girl who didn't cry when the winner was announced.

Takamina auditioned for AKB48 and was one of 24 girls to be selected to join, out of 7924 applicants. It was revealed on the July 7th, 2010 episode of AKBINGO! that the only reason Takamina passed the initial written auditions was because of her height (148cm) and her birthdate (4/8/1991).
She debuted on stage on the 8th of December, 2005.

Takamina starred in the TV Tokyo drama 「Mendol」 / メン☆ドル as Nami/Kai along with fellowNo Sleeves members Kojima Haruna and Minegishi Minami.
  • 2009
Takamina was ranked 5th in AKB48's 2009 Senbatsu Election.
She was officially announced as the captain of Team A at their Budokan - AKB48 Bunshin no Jutsu Tour / AKB104 Senbatsu Members Sokaku Matsuri concert during the Team Shuffle.
Takamina also starred as co-lead in the second night of AKB48 Kagekidan 「∞・Infinity」 withAkimoto Sayaka.

Takamina was ranked 6th in AKB48's 2010 Senbatsu Election.
She starred in the TV Tokyo drama 「Majisuka Gakuen」/ マジスカ学園 as Minami.
